June Beauty Favourites

junebeauty

It’s hard to believe June is almost over and I’m doing a write up on my favourite beauty buys from the month gone by! Time really is flying past us..

All of my picks are incredibly affordable and in my opinion, 100% worth purchasing. This is not a sponsored post, I wasn’t paid to promote any of these products and everything bar the last product, a press release sample, I purchased myself out of curiosity and my need to buy excessive amounts of beauty products. I hope you enjoy!

Catrice Cosmetics Camouflage Cream

When finding a concealer that’s perfect for my skin, I always seem to run into a lot of difficulty. Some don’t give enough coverage, others tend to dry out the problem areas of my skin (around the nose and chin). I usually opt for cream formula concealers as I find they give the best coverage and are easiest to blend naturally, so when I spotted the Cream Camouflage from Catrice Cosmetics at just €3.50, I said I had to give it a go.

As soon as I applied it, I knew it was a match made in heaven. It literally glides onto the skin, blends perfectly and gives incredible full coverage, so much so that I’ve been wearing it without any foundation when opting for a natural look. The formula doesn’t crease, even after a full day’s wear and the shade I chose, 020 Light Beige, suited my fair-medium skin tone perfectly. I can’t recommend this product enough, it’s up there with the likes of Benefit‘s Boi-ing and MAC‘s Studio Finish, which are considered ‘industrial strength concealers’, but for a tiny fraction of the price. You’ll find Catrice in most Penneys and a selection of pharmacies nationwide.

Institut Karite So Magic Verbena Light Hand Cream

handcream

Being honest, I’ve never put much thought into hand care but your hands do deserve some loving, they go through an awful lot every day! Personally I find the chemicals and latex gloves I have to use in the chemistry lab are quite harsh on my skin. Playing guitar also leaves the tops of my fingers cracked and rough – not very pretty. I picked up this Institut Karite hand cream while browsing near the till in my local TK Maxx and I’m so glad I did! Enriched with verbena, which is considered a ‘miraculous plant’, the formula has a light and non-sticky texture, which is quickly absorbed by the skin, giving instant softness. It’s currently on sale over on Institut Karite‘s website for just €4.90 – you really can’t go wrong with it!

Catrice Cosmetics Glam & Doll False Lashes Mascara

I’ve been using Rimmel‘s Wake Me Up Wonderfull mascara for a while now, since I ran out of my beloved YSL Shocking mascara and wasn’t financially able to repurchase (at €30 a pop it’s not the cheapest and food kind of had to come first that week *sigh*). Although that particular Rimmel product is quite good, it wasn’t giving me the volume and length I desired. I spotted this new Catrice mascara in Penneys a few weeks back, and because I’ve never been disappointed by one of their products yet, I said I’d put it to the test. The difference it made to my lashes was insane, both volume and length-wise – such a great buy. Better than any budget mascara I’ve used before, it even gives my YSL favourite a run for its money! Nab it for under a fiver in most Penneys and a selection of pharmacies nationwide, I can see this one becoming a sell out as word gets around about how effective it is!

Penneys PS Double Sided Stippling Brush

psbrush

As we all know, Penneys have seriously upped their game in the beauty department recently, in particular with the range of makeup brushes they’re now stocking. I’ve purchased a selection of them over the last number of weeks, some were ‘just alright’, while others, especially this stippling brush, left me very impressed. I’ve been using it to apply my cream contour this week and it’s so effective in achieving a well-blended yet defined finish. The angled end is ideal for applying product to the cheekbones, while the flat side is perfect for the nose area. In addition to this, it also washes really well, which is always a deal breaker for me. At just €2.50, you’d be mad not to pick one up!

Stila Smudge Pot

stila

Winged eyeliner is my speciality and getting it perfect can be really difficult without the right product and tools. I’ve been using L’Oreal‘s Superstar felt liner for about a year and can’t really fault it, but I’ve always loved the concept of gel liner so when I spotted this highly recommended one from Stila on Beauty Bay, I said I’d see what all the fuss is about. Using my beloved NIMA ‘Danielle’ brush, the Stila Smudge Pot in Black me an incredibly precise, well defined flick with ease. A little goes a long, long way with this product so at €15.30, it’ll last you ages and is therefore, a beauty investment I highly recommend.

No7 Beautiful Skin Micellar Cleansing Water (Normal/Dry Skin)

no7

Micellar products have been a big hit over the last year or so, with Garnier‘s range being among almost every beauty enthusiast’s kit. I received some press samples of No7’s Summer Collection from PR queen Victoria Lennon and among them was this Micellar Water. The Normal/Dry Skin version works wonders on my skin, removing even the most stubborn makeup with ease and zero irritation. It contains a unique multivitamin and mineral blend to energise the skin and lock in moisture, while its sister, for Normal/Oily Skin contains added zinc to help regulate and control oil production. At €12 for a 200ml bottle, it’s a staple product every girl need’s in her skincare routine.
